WEEK 154
This week, (14-18 March) Tetsu and Dean continued working on their mandatory tools.
Tetsu worked on his brass anvil and poising plate. In doing so, he had an opportunity to practice his skills on the Aciera milling machine as both of these tools are to be machined, then finished by hand.
Dean completed his truing guide, which Henrik graded and passed. To keep the momentum going, Dean went straight to work on his next tool, the pointed nose hand vice.
We ended the week with a tour of the Longines museum located in St-Imier, a nice way to change things up and check out some vintage pieces for education and inspiration.
Have a great weekend everyone.
HENRIK's WORDS:
Asmund and David both had their Birthday at the same day! As we all have different ideas about coffee and how to communally deal with the beans and machine, there has been some tension brewing in the background that surfaced this week, through extensive talks and diplomacy we finally think we found a compromise that both sides seem very happy with! Wish us good luck that this new system will last some time :) Renato finished some small conical pivots to practice balance staff pivot making and started planning on how to do a balance staff for one of his pocket watches! Technicians started a new subject; the Swiss lever escapement! Robert and Asmund were busy turning blue steel slots as a pre practice before making winding stems, Francesco started making complete winding stems! and now we are going to the Longines museum for some inspiration! It was a very creative and fun week! Have a great weekend everyone!
