Jig boring lessons this week.

Kevin checking his workpiece with the mounted microscope on the Hauser Jig Borer.

The Acru-Rite retains the datum reference point and also saves settings.

Everything else, Kevin must adjust by hand.

Visit to Mr Dufour !

Phone rings.
We pick it up and guess who was on the phone ?

Its Mr Philippe Dufour !!

We sent him an email a few weeks ago to request for a visit for our new students and he was very busy.   And today, he just gave us a call to tell us to fix an appointment with him. How kind of him even when he is terribly busy.

Christmas came early for us all.

Mid week sneaks.

The boys all at work.

Henrik giving a lesson on drilling on the 70.

Morning lesson on the trusty 102.

Tooling post.

102. Schaublin.

We have an old 102 in the machine room and Henrik is prepping it for the students to use.

Frequent maintenance of our machines mean that it doesn't take long for prepping. Its a good habit and mentality to practice. Downtime for machines mean loss of productivity.

Creation ...

It’s all said and done, it’s real, and it’s been fun ...

We were and are still honored to have hosted the WatchTour watch. As it leaves us for the next destination, we hope the spirit of the Watchtour project lives on as long as it can.

Adieu !

Mid week sneaks

The boys have started their milling lessons on the F1.

Kevin is adjusting the milling head. Notice the plastic containers below the F1. Its the coolant oil for steel milling.

We have a new extractor fan in the heating room. All thanks to the Ulysse Nardin Foundation for generously sponsoring this.

Its a pretty cool unit. It also has an in-built carbon filter.

Very futuristic looking.

Website update

Our school website has been updated.

Application process and course fees have also been updated.

While we emphasize that our fullskill course is more hands-on, there is some theory. Here is an example of what students refer to when they need to make a tool.

For example, this is a tool made by Horia which students must replicate.

Students need to make a technical drawing of the tool.

And this drawing must be complete with measurements.

The special watch ...

Henrik and the students posing with the watch on a Friday just before our weekly maintenance.

A big shout out to the Watchtour forum on WUS ! Hey guys !

Watch Tour !

So, we received the WatchTour watch from our swiss friend down the road and we had it for a while. Our new students had just came in and we had alot to do. However, we didn't neglect the spirit of the Watchtour watch. It did take us some time to decide what we wanted to do with it and this is the result of Henrik's creativity. Superluminova on the automatic rotor.

This is what the rotor looks like in daylight. We used our Aciera F1 mill to mill out a recess in the rotor. Then we fill it in with Superluminova.

This is the original rotor which we swapped out.

Close up of the movement.

Lastly, this is what it looks like in total darkness !
