WEEK 200!

  WEEK 200

Team A

Origin: Sweden, The Philippines & Taiwan
Name: Daniel, Miguel, & David
Watchmaking class: Fullskill
Current mood:

This week David focused on making his brass anvil, Daniel focused on remaking and fine tuning his hand vise and is starting to conceptualize his school watch project and I focused on making my steel angular rule and brass truing guide.- Miguel

Team B

Origin: Japan/Switzerland & Canada
Name: Tetsu & Dean
Watchmaking class: Fullskill
Current mood:

This week, (30 January ~ 03 February) Dean & Tetsu continued woking on the barrels, the winding & setting mechanisms, and the gear trains of the mandatory 7 movements.
There are a lot to check and adjust.
They are at the stage to see, compare, think, adjust and check; which takes a long time. Even with Henrik‘s instructions, it is still not easy to get things right.
Hopefully, after gaining much experience, they will be able to know what should be done when you see parts and components.
In between times, Dean was working on his watches for repair points. So far the serviced watches were showing good results.
Tetsu ventured into uncharted territory this year, and after a few weeks of practice, he was slowly getting used to working with tweezers and screwdrivers.
Still a long way to go, but time is running!Speaking of time, it is noticeable now that the daytime is getting longer. It is not dark anymore when school starts and it is still light when it finishes. Having said that, some amount of snow falls every day even there are some warm-ish days, so the winter is not over yet.
Wish you all a nice weekend! Dean & Tetsu

Team C

Origin: Switzerland, Norway & USA
Name: Renato, David, Francesco, Åsmund & Robert
Watchmaking class: Fullskill
Current mood:

David and I covered the final topics on watch timing this week. We also practiced dynamic poising and basically getting a proper timing in general by tweaking all factors  involved. Interesting to see how small increments of changes need to be done in the end for fine tuning and what affects what. All work above was done while doing the practice exams for hairspring. Looks like we'll be ready for the final exam next week!
